Whats the difference between GSM, CDMA, and 4S?

All iPhone 4S have the same back covers. If you have an iPhone 4S be sure you select 4S when adding your item to the cart.
There are 2 types of iPhone 4 (Not S) GSM and CDMA. The iPhone 4 GSM will have a sim card slot on the side. The iPhone 4 CDMA will not have a sim card slot on the side.
Please be sure you know what type of iPhone you have before placing your order. Each model has different parts that are specific to that model of iPhone. If you order the wrong model it will not fit you phone.
If you are overseas and have a iPhone 4 (Not S) then it is GSM.

How do I prepare an image for etching?

Download and follow the instructions on the etching template.
you must use adobe illustrator, adobe photoshop, or gimp to edit the template. Both photoshop and illustrator have free 30 day trials. Gimp is free and open source.

How do I know if my image will etch well?

Download and follow the instructions on the etching template.
Your image should be all of the following.
1.High resolution - larger than 300x300
2.100% Back and White. absolutely no grey or color.
3.Photography with grey in them will etch similar to the example below.

What is artwork service?

With a custom etch you must edit the etch template and submit your artwork. With artwork service you send us your image and we position and place it on the template for you.

Can I get the apple logo etched on it?

Sorry Charlie, Apple isn't so nice when it comes to this. We cannot etch any trademarked logos or copyrighted images.

When can I expect my order to be shipped?

JackBacks are made to order. Plain backs ship in about a week. Custom backs about 2 weeks.
After your JackBack has shipped you can expect it to arrive within 1 week (international 2 - 5 weeks)

How much does shipping cost?

US: $7.50 (Shipped via USPS 1-3 days)

We do offer worldwide shipping and would like to continue to do so. However it is very expensive for us to ship our products overseas. The rates below reflect our cost to ship outside the US. We are constantly working to improve our products and shipping rates.

International: Priority $23.50 (3 - 4 weeks) or Express $43.75 (1 - 2 weeks)

International customers may be subject to pay additional duties upon package arrival.

Does it void my iPhone warranty?

I wouldnt be too concerned about it. There are no physical way to tell if your phone hase been opened. If for some reason you need to take your phone in for service, simply remove your JackBack and re-install your original iPhone back. We suggest that you hold onto your original iPhone back plate. Works like a charm ;)

Are photos or video affected in any way?

Nope... All JackBacks include iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S lenses that work perfectly.

I want to upgrade to the iPhone 4s, will my current JackBack fit the 4s?

The older AT&T (GSM) JackBacks will not fit the new iPhone 4S. The older Verizon (CDMA) JackBacks will fit but do not have the new updates 4S lens. The new 4S JackBacks fit perfectly and do have the new optical 4S camera lens.

Does it affect the thickness of my phone?

The original iPhone 4 back is approximately 1.3mm thick. JackBacks are approximately 1.3mm - 1.5mm thick. This can vary slightly from piece to piece.

Does it affect the weight of my phone?

When holding my phone with a JackBack installed, it is ever so slightly lighter than with the original back installed.

How are JackBacks made?

Every JackBack is hand made in Cincinnati, Ohio by our dedicated team of artisan woodworkers.
JackBacks are laser cut and etched for a super precise fit. The wood is sealed, sanded and finished with a Tung oil then affixed to an iPhone bezel.

Bamboo, Mahogany, and Walnut. No other wood types are available at this time.

Nope sorry. We use a very specific type of wood that is made for laser cutting and known for durability.

How will the wood wear over time?

You can expect JackBacks to age gracefully over time. The more you touch it, the more beautiful it looks. The natural oils from your skin will give the wooden back an even better look and texture over time. In some cases the finish may get small blemishes. For resurfacing or restoring your back we suggest using a fresh coat of tung oil or wax polish.
